Concussion Policy:
It is important to understand the signs and symptoms of a concussion. The Team Zone Concussion Policy states that any participant suspected of sustaining a head injury must be removed from play immediately and that any participant sustaining a head injury must be cleared by a licensed healthcare provider before the player can return to play.
Suspected Concussion Procedure:
1. If a head injury or concussion is suspected, the coach must call the athletic trainer over immediately and have the athlete evaluated.
2. Any head injury must be immediately reported to Jeana Bain and an accident report must be filed.
3.Parents should continue to check for signs of concussion right after the injury and continue checking for a few days after the injury. If the concussion signs or symptoms get worse, parents should take him or her to the emergency department right away.
